Get a Jumpstart on the 2009 – 2010 Ski Season
Hello there…
I’d like to welcome you to Slope Wire.
I have been in the ski industry for over 26 years and skiing even longer. I will be sharing my experience and providing advice to all the skiers and snowboarders out there trying to decide which mountain to conquer next.
I travel all the newest and hottest ski resorts around the world and I’ll be providing information on the best skiing, lodging, dining and all other activities available by the slopes.
But enough about me…
Wax your skis and boards and get ready for the
upcoming ski and snowboard season! It’s time to start planning your winter ski trips. Don’t be fooled into thinking that last minute deals will help you save.
Early bird gets the powder
Ski resorts are noticing a trend. People are doing their shopping and booking earlier. In an effort to capture more visitors, resorts are advertising their best ski and snowboard deals now. So if you’re holding out for the best value this winter, you’re missing out.
This past week I’ve been receiving hot deals from resorts coming in at a 50% – 60% savings over last year’s prices. Many of these offers have a short shelf life and are not being extended into the ski season.
What I’m currently seeing…
- Book 3 nights get 4th night free
- Book 4 nights get 5th night free
- Stay 7 nights pay for 6 nights
- Stay 7 nights pay 5 nights
- 10% discount for each night (1 nt = 10% off; 2 nts = 20% off; 3 nts=30% off)
A lot of the specials can also be combined, which could mean huge savings.
Things to remember when booking:
Get all the facts when booking a trip. Verify that the package you are looking at includes all taxes and services you expect. Some trips seem like a great value but have a la carte pricing. This can really bring the price up once you add everything you were looking for.
The winter 2009/2010 ski and snowboard season will be filled with many value packages and whether you are considering Aspen or The Alps, I recommend booking through a tour operator that offers ski packages. Tour operators have access to the best airfare, lodging, transportation and lift ticket deals.
Mini ski weeks
In the Alps, take advantage of Mini Ski Weeks. By booking a hotel from Sunday through Friday, you can take advantage of additional savings. By staying mid-week, you allow the hotel to sell their rooms at a higher weekend rate and offer you a lower rate. This is also applicable to hotels in North America whether you are considering USA or Canadian ski destinations you save when you travel mid-week or off-peak.
I look forward to continually providing you with current information on your favorite destinations. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to comment below and find me on twitter or facebook.
See you at the bottom!
